BOTTLE GOURD
Bottle gourd is one of the most important vegetable crops in India. It is one of the oldest domesticated vegetable species that can be used as food items, medicine & a lot more things. The vegetable stem is used as a vegetable & the hard shell of the vegetable can be used in making water jugs, utensils & fishing nets.
Bottle gourd can be grown on a wide range of soils but it is preferred to use well-drained sandy loam soil rich in organic for good growth. The pH value of the soil should between 6 – 8 for the efficient growth of the plant.
The suitable timing for the sowing in is July & January. The bottle gourd plant requires a temperature of 18° C - 27° C during the early growth. The plant of the bottle gourd prefers a wide variety of rainfall conditions.
